Street furniture
Europlakat became involved in the area of street furniture maintenance in 1995. At that time, in agreement with the City Municipality of Maribor, the company erected bus shelters in the city traffic network which it maintains to this day. The city awarded the right to market specified outdoor advertising surfaces, thus unburdening the city budget. Europlakat financed the costs of setting up and maintaining the bus shelters from revenues generated through the selling of advertising space. Europlakat participated in similar projects using the same principle in the majority of Slovenian city municipalities.
In this way, following the lead of our partner and leader in street furniture management the company JCDecaux, we established public-private partnerships as they are known abroad. Street furniture does not only comprise bus shelters. Cities and companies involved in outdoor advertising conclude long-time partnerships both for projects involving the development of urban infrastructures and other projects directed at arranging cities' images. These can involve the design of street lights, trash bins, benches or erection of public toilets and the public urban bicycle system.
